SILANA Our modular data acquisition system

SILANA is a universal software framework for data acquisition, processing, storage and control. It enables seamless integration into Industry 4.0. Drivers can be easily loaded using a plug-in architecture. The open programming allows the integration of various bus systems and technologies over a wide spectrum. SILANA is ideal for new systems or as a replacement for existing systems.

We are happy to advise you on the optimal use of SILANA in your company.

Web-based configuration

Our specially programmed web interface not only enables the configuration of SILANA, but also provides an insight into the current data recording.

Data Endpoint Modules – DEMs

By means of Data Endpoint Modules, DEMs for short, any end devices and/or technologies can be integrated into SILANA. Each DEM contains any number of channels. On the one hand, there are generic DEMs for all common communication technologies. On the other hand, the framework also offers the possibility to address specific device drivers. The configuration of the modules is done via an Excel sheet and also offers the possibility to easily integrate channel linearisations. Input and output can be selected for each channel. In this way, control and regulation tasks can also be covered.

Generic DEMs

Generic DEMs are available for standardized protocols such as Modbus-TCP/RTU, OPC UA/DA, REST API, MQTT, etc.. Only the configuration is necessary.

Specific DEMs

As specific DEMs, individual drivers can be developed and integrated. This makes it easy to integrate existing measurement or control hardware. In combination with NI's broad product range, specific DEMs can be used to measure a wide range of physical quantities.

Individual settings for each channel

For each channel, a wide range of settings can be made. Default value, minimum, maximum, multi-level alarming and individual linearization are just some of the options.

"Forced Values" - An essential function for every start-up

By means of "Forced Values", individual measuring channels can be overwritten during runtime. This greatly simplifies commissioning and adjustments to your hardware.

Flexible calculations at runtime

"Calculated channels" are virtual measuring channels that enable continuous calculations. Here, reference can be made to stored constants or to measuring channels.

Choose the storage format that suits you

SILANA saves your measurement data in the format of your choice. In addition to classic table-based formats such as CSV, other technologies are also available. The measurement data can also be stored in local SQLite databases, in external MySQL databases or in HDF5 format.

Supports Windows and Linux RT

In addition to a classic Windows computer, SILANA also supports the Linux Real Time Systems from NI. In addition, SILANA can be operated as a service under Windows.

Configuration via Excel file

Edit your system configuration conveniently via Excel. The import function via the web interface allows you to adapt your setup in just a few steps. The configuration is massively simplified by the templates supplied.
