The FlexiBeam Controller (FPGA) enables flexible beam shaping, fast pyrometric temperature measurement, and thus immediate control of the melt bath temperature. This enables high-quality applications such as:
- Laser Remote Welding (LRW)
- Laser Hardening (LTH)
- Directed Energy Deposition(DED)
Complex surface temperature profiles can be achieved by dividing the surface into power or temperature zones.

Beam Shaping
To ensure uniform welding across a surface, the beam moves in a pattern like in the adjacent video. Optionally the speed of the laser in the pattern can be held constant.
The following patterns are possible by defining frequency and phase (Lissajous figures).

Laser Metal Deposition
Different results were achieved with the sample on the right using various methods. The numbered welds can be seen in the top-view in the above picture and the respective micrographs below.
| Nr. | Welding Process |
| 1 | Weld bead without oscillation of the laser (standard for comparison) |
| 2 | Weld bead with donut shaped oscillation |
| 3 | Weld bead with rectangular oscillation (as broad and flat as possible) |
| 4 | Weld bead with rectangular oscillation (as wide and high as possible) |
| 5 bis 8 | Four overlapped weld beads with rectangular oscillation (to coat surfaces) |
| 9 | Varying weld bead width by changing oscillation width |
| 10 | 6mm deep groove filled with 85 weld beads no oscillation (heavy mixing between substrate and weld beads) |
| 11 | 6mm deep groove filled with 35 weld beads and oscillation (good connection to substrate) |
